Thanks a million for reading this. Since you're here, I'll get to the point. Before I do, though, please know I sent a request through first and you are more than welcome to respond there we we can make a bit of a difference financially.

I'm a fan, both of yours and of a16z. I'm a loyal podcast listener and awhile back you were even kind enough to retweet my book review of Hard Things when I was blogging more actively.

I am currently enrolled in Southern Methodist University's Executive MBA program while I work full-time and plan for the next chapter of my professional life (which I alluded to in my review of your book). One of my current classes is Leadership, and for it, we are asked to conduct 6 interviews with leaders we admire and learn more about their attitude and approach to leadership. With that task, I figured, "Fuck it, I'm going to swing for the fences and see if I can get someone I really want to hear from." Hence this request.

I'd like to ask if you'd consider doing a 30 minute interview on leadership. I'm asking you for two reasons: 1) As your book clearly outlines, you've been in the line of fire and had to demonstrate leadership with your own enterprises; and 2) You have the insight that only a very, very small number of people have in that you also know hundreds, if not thousands, of other leaders through the various ventures you support. So, your experience is exponential.

I know you get a lot of requests and I know this is a long shot. But I'm a big believer in the fact that you miss 100% of the shots you don't take. I want to take full advantage of this opportunity to be a student and ask people with more experience than myself the questions I want to hear perspective on for my next professional venture. And I completely understand if you simply don't have the time. I remain a fan nonetheless.

If, on the other hand, you're willing to help a professional student looking to make the lives of his direct reports currently and his future direct reports better by offering some insight, I'd be happy to coordinate so it is insanely convenient for you. I'd love to hop on a plane to meet in-person if that is possible, and if not, could certainly coordinate something via phone. (If it is helpful in allaying the fear that I'm some creeper, you can find legitimate info about me here and here.)

Many thanks for taking a moment to read this, and I hope to have the opportunity to chat further if the opportunity exists. I've put a simple form below for you to let me know and also provided my contact information if that is helpful.
