TT#051 - Shit's about to get real...
Feb 28, 2023
All the data says I should write a “5 Best ChatGPT Prompts Guide” for best open and click through rates on the newsletter this week.
Don’t you worry, this is not that.
In fact, it’s kind of the opposite.
Instead, I’m going to share how NOT to use ChatGPT - and why.
I’ll start here: If you’re using ChatGPT to straight up write content for you, it’s obvious.
Most of us won’t say anything. Just like we don’t call out “influencers” with 300 likes and 2 comments for using automation to look cool.
But we can tell it ain’t you writing.
Best case scenario, you’re creating content that’s dry, commoditized, and ineffective - at scale.
Worst case, your audience is aware and it’s destroying their trust in you as an expert.
You see, content marketing isn’t about checking a box and publishing content for the sake of publishing content.
It’s about building your authority, credibility, and trust with your target market of ideal clients.
And it’s about creating an opportunity for your audience to know, like, and trust you.
(Trust is there twice on purpose.)
Phoning it in with content you let AI write for you does none of that. AI literally has the word artificial in it.
Don’t get me wrong. AI tools are an extraordinary way to amplify your voice and ideas. But they’re not tools you want to use to replace your ideas and voice.
With that out of the way…
We know it’s going to happen anyway. Your prospect’s social feeds and inboxes are going to be filled with artificial intelligence.
So, how do you stand out and get the attention of your audience and prospective clients?
I believe 3 things are going to become more important in 2023 and beyond:
- Storytelling: The emotional connectivity that storytelling creates with an audience isn’t something AI can replace (yet). Improve your storytelling skills to have a greater impact.
- Personality: Pretty obvious here, but your personality is what makes you - you. Work it into your content and you’ll stand out from the wave of robotic content. Will everyone like you? No. But it’s better to be loved by a few than kinda-liked by everyone.
- Personal Experience: AI can’t rip off your personal experience (yet). Leverage experiences to add context to your ideas and demonstrate the authenticity of your content.
In other words, be real.
And that’s how you’ll come out on the winning side of these rapid changes. And more importantly, build real connections with an audience and help you stand out from the sea of sameness.
