A title does not make a you a great leader

We really want that "manager," "VP" or "C-O" title...

But one thing often surprises us when we get it:

People don't instantly start doing what you want when you get it.

A title you carry has some value, of course.

It may pay more (though not always in sales).

It offers a little clarity about who to go to for what.

it also gives the outside world a sense of "where you are" in an organization.

But it doesn't make you a great leader.

It may make you a certain “level” of manager.

Which is enough to get people to COMPLY.

But it's not enough to get people to COMMIT.

And that is where you want people to be, because that's where they do their best.

If you want people to step up, give everything you have, and deliver the best they can:

Act like you didn’t have the title at all.

How would you inspire, encourage, convince, and compel people to act?

Lead in a way people WANT to follow, not HAVE to.

Leadership is an art. Not a rank.
