A clear foundation is what helps businesses scale

Would you build a home without a foundation?

Yesterday I was working with a CEO that has stagnant sales.

Great product. Great people. Great purpose.

But no plan. And no real foundation to scale on.

Up to now, growth had come easy.

Organic growth and word of mouth got them "here."

And for all intents and purposes, "here" isn't bad.

But what got them "here" won't get them "there."

Hitting that wall, that plateau, or that ceiling...

Often requires reassessing the growth strategy altogether.

And in some cases, like this one, building one from scratch.

This usually means doing foundation work:

- Getting clear on the value proposition.
- Defining who you are, or want to be as a business.
- Determining how you want to tell that story.
- Understanding who you want to tell that story to.
- Creating a clear path to convert that audience into sales.
- Determining the best tactics to do that.
- And executing well.

This CEO's competitors are trying to muscle through a wall.

While he's building a plan to go over it.
