Great businesses are built on the hearts and minds of customers

“Do you DESERVE to be in business? Profit aside…

If your business disappeared… Would anyone care?”

This is what an investor I know asks every business pitching him.

And what he wants to know is:

  • What PURPOSE do you serve?

  • Are you disrupting anything that matters?

  • Are you delivering something people REALLY value?

  • What keeps you from getting cloned tomorrow?

  • Do you do create evangelists out of customers?

He knows as well as anyone…

The deeper the purpose…

The more customers LOVE what you do…

And the more customers love HOW and WHY do you do it…

The wider the moat protecting you from competitors.

Great businesses aren’t built on spreadsheets.

They’re built in the hearts and minds of customers.
