TT#058 - Tired Of Waiting For Leads? 17 Ways to Generate Leads Right Now

Let's face it, having an incredible product or service is only half the battle.

The other half? Getting it in front of the right people.

You might have already dipped your toes into the sea of social media, only to be met with a thunderous silence.

Or you’ve hired a lead generation service that promised all you’d have to do is sign on the dotted line and show up to a calendar full of qualified prospects. Only to find out later they misrepresented you or are sending you grossly unqualified leads.

Sound familiar? You aren’t alone. I hear it all the time. And there’s a better way forward.

This week I’m sharing 17 off-the-cuff ideas I had for capturing attention and generating leads for your business.

  1. Put your LinkedIn to work. Start with messaging anyone in your target market who has viewed your profile, offering assistance in any way you can.

  2. Connect daily with at least 5 people in your target market on LinkedIn. Send a personalized message after they accept.

  3. Utilize LinkedIn's polling feature to engage your target market by asking about key challenges they face. Then, initiate conversation with each voter.

  4. Search out LinkedIn groups focusing on your target market. After joining, begin building connections and introducing yourself.

  5. Hit your email list (regardless of how many are on it) with a case study showcasing recent results and ask people to hop on a call if they’re interested in seeing the same outcomes.

  6. Revisit old prospects and contacts. Ask previous prospects how they're progressing with the issue they originally discussed with you.

  7. Along the same lines, go back to everyone that’s told you “no” in the past and ask how they are progressing on the problem they originally reached out to you about.

  8. Make a list of 50 podcasts that speak to your target market and start reaching out to ask if you can be a guest on their show. Be sure to highlight how you can help or what you can add.

  9. Set up a badass Upwork profile and go hunting. These are people that are active buyers ready to hire someone. Be sure to screen prospective clients though. 90% of the platform is garbage.

  10. Identify the 1-3 main pain points your target market has and host a webinar telling them how to address each. End the webinar with an ask to hop on a call to discuss further at the end.

  11. Host similar live sessions across multiple platforms that alert users when you're live, broadening your reach.

  12. Share previously posted content on platforms you typically ignore. You might discover some untapped potential.

  13. Create a free resource, guide, or training that hits on the main problems and pain points your target market has. Announce it on social and ask people to comment on the post to get it.

  14. Grab testimonials or positive comments from the work you’ve done and post them to every social channel you have access to.

  15. Go bonkers commenting and engaging in other people’s content that are speaking to your target market across different platforms.

  16. Find Facebook Groups that your target market is likely to join for support or networking. Start answering questions or engaging to create some name awareness.

  17. Hit up current or past clients you’ve done great work for and ask if they have any referrals.

This list is just the tip of the iceberg, designed to kickstart your thinking and shake off any inertia. Building a business isn't a spectator sport. There are times when opportunity will knock, but sometimes you have to kick the door down.

So, get out there. Be active. Make things happen.
